Bridging the Distance: Ch’iyáqtel Launches New Virtual Care Network
As the People of the River, connection is at the heart of our wellbeing. For generations, our strength has been rooted in how we care for one another. Today, Ch’iyáqtel Wellness is proud to announce the official rollout of our new Virtual Care Network, a vital step in Keeping Communities Connected.
We understand that accessing care shouldn’t require our elders or busy families to always travel. By expanding our digital infrastructure, we are bringing our All-in-One Health Care services directly into the homes of our community members. Whether it is a follow-up consultation, a mental health check-in, or coordinating resources for Housing and the Factors that Influence Health, our people can now access high-quality support from wherever they are.
This initiative is deeply guided by the principle of Two-Eyed Seeing. We are taking the best of modern medical technology and using it to uphold our timeless responsibility to relational care.
“Technology should serve the community, not the other way around,” shared the Health Directorate. “By launching this Virtual Care Network, we are ensuring that no community member feels isolated from their care team. Just as importantly, we are doing this on our own terms. Adhering strictly to OCAP® principles, we ensure that Ch’iyáqtel (Tzeachten First Nation) retains full ownership, control, and access over all our community’s digital health data.”
The platform has been custom-designed to be user-friendly, secure, and culturally safe. Over the next month, our team will be hosting community workshops to help members set up their secure access and learn how to navigate the new system.
Together, we are building a healthcare model that honors our ancestors, protects our information, and sustains our future.
